Egan Saves Energy, $66,000 for Customers

GRAND RAPIDS, MICH., Feb. 15, 2011—Utility provider Consumers Energy ranked Andy J. Egan Co. sixth among trade ally contractors who reduced gas consumption for their customers in 2010.

Together, Egan’s customers across West Michigan participating in the rebate program saved 5,600 thousand cubic feet (Mcf) of gas valued at about $66,000. This amount of gas could heat about 54 homes for a year.

Egan upgraded or replaced heating and air conditioning systems, water heaters and more to achieve the savings.

According to www.consumersenergy.com, Consumers Energy’s trade ally program, started in 2009, distributed $11.3 million in rebate checks in 2010 to commercial and industrial customers for reducing energy consumption. Consumers Energy trade allies are the only contractors able to submit applications to the Consumers Energy Incentive Program for rebates on behalf of customers.

To become a trade ally with Consumers Energy, contractors must apply and complete training provided by Consumers Energy.
