St. Luke's Diaper Bank

St. Luke's Diaper Bank – June 2019

St. Luke’s Diaper Bank works to provide an adequate and reliable supply of diapers and baby wipes to caregivers and children experiencing diaper need in the Kalamazoo area. The organization provides a week’s supply of diapers and baby wipes to more than 400 families each month, distributing nearly 250,000 diapers annually.

“Unfortunately, there is a very high level of diaper need in the greater Kalamazoo region, and we run out of diapers within hours of shipments arriving,” says Kai Harris, Executive Director of St. Luke’s Diaper Bank. “We currently turn away more than 250 families each month, because we have run out of diapers. This donation will enable us to provide diapers to 111 additional families monthly, significantly reducing our unmet need."

St. Luke’s Diaper Bank works in collaboration with other area non-profits to ensure that the most vulnerable families have access to the diapers. These organizations include Douglass Community Association, New Village Park, Ministry with Community and Michigan Works!. The non-profit’s mission is to ensure that every child has a supply of clean, dry diapers, which keeps children healthy, keeps caregivers working, allows young children to access early childhood education programs, and supports a positive parent-child bond.
