Covenant House Michigan Grand Rapids

Covenant House Michigan Grand Rapids – April 2019

Covenant House is a faith-based, nonprofit organization that provides hope to homeless, runaway and at-risk youth ages 18-24. The Grand Rapids campus opened its doors in November of 2018, where it provides shelter, education and vocational programs, as well as other support services, to help overcome hurdles such as homelessness, unemployment, inadequate education, violence, drugs and gangs.

The $10,000 “seed gift” will be used toward the purchase of a van to transport youth to medical appointments, job interviews, group outings, church services and more. “Access to transportation will help these youth embrace the great promise of their lives,” says Pam Spaeth, Chief Operating Officer of Covenant House Michigan Grand Rapids Campus. “By removing the transportation barriers for young people in our program, we can better redirect them from a path of homelessness to one of self-sufficiency, thus reducing the number of chronic homeless.”

To fully fund the purchase of a van, Covenant House plans to seek “matching gifts” from donors. For more information on Covenant House Michigan, visit www.covenanthousemi.org.
