Staff Accountant

We are looking for a Staff Accountant to work directly with the Accounting team to ensure timely completion of month-end close, real-time job costing, and current financial records. Duties:

  • Accurately reconcile balance sheet accounts
  • Assist Payroll Manager, Accounts Receivable Specialist, and Accounts Payable Specialist with tasks including payroll processing, application of deposits, and invoice processing
  • Assist with sales and use tax compliance and reporting
  • Assist with month-end closing, including the preparation of journal entries
  • Inform Director of Finance and Accounting of any unusual transactions or reconciling items
  • Communicates and works directly with accounting team and Project Managers/Project Manager Assistants when needed
  • Other duties as assigned

Skills & Experience:

  • General understanding of accounting and is eager to learn the unique complexities of construction accounting
  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or related business field, or 2+ years of accounting experience. Construction industry experience is preferred, but not required
  • Strong motivation and ability to manage multiple tasks and assignments

Requirements:

  • Maintains accuracy and high attention to detail
  • Ability to identify, analyze and solve problems of accounting related issues
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills with the ability to work collaboratively
  • Proficient with MS Word, Excel, and Outlook
  • Good work ethic, which should include a desire to learn in continuous improvements.

Schedule: Full Time, In-Person Role

Location: Grand Rapids, MI
