Location: Grand Rapids, MI
The Job Cost Analyst works directly with the Director of Finance & Accounting and operations to compile, analyze, and report accurate project financials to support informed decision-making. This role ensures the integrity of job setups, cost tracking, compliance, and assists with financial reporting across multiple departments. The ideal candidate has a strong foundation in construction accounting, an understanding of project structure and processes, and a collaborative, data-driven approach to improving project visibility and financial performance.
Duties | Responsibilities
- Set up and maintain jobs and contracts in the ERP system.
- Oversee compliance of accounting and job-related requirements on projects.
- Compile and analyze cost variances to verify accuracy and gauge project health.
- Support the monthly accounting close, including job cost checks, work-in-progress compilation, and margin reviews.
- Assist with project risk mitigation, such as NOC/NOF/liens, contractual obligations, etc.
- Maintain corporate union and non-union labor rates, T&M pricing logs, and forecasting tools.
- Perform analysis and trend reporting on job performance and corporate metrics.
- Partner with project teams to address questions, fulfill reporting needs, and resolve issues.
- Assist in training and improving job cost processes, systems, and reporting tools.
Job Specification
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or related business field
- 5+ years of construction/job-cost accounting experience
- Experience with ERP or job cost systems (Sage 300 CRE preferred)
- Proficiency in Microsoft 365, Excel (pivot tables, lookups, basic analysis)
- High attention to detail with strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Collaborative, service-oriented approach to supporting project teams
- Strong in report writing; familiarity with databases and system integrations is a plus.

- Informs the Director of Finance & Accounting of observed trends and impacts to project WIP, monthly gain/fade reporting, and financial projections
- Communicates and works directly with the accounting team and project managers/project manager assistants to drive reliable job cost and continuity.
