GRAND RAPIDS, MICH., June 20, 2011—A long running competitive spirit between the leaders of two local companies led to a competition for a good cause-National Hunger Awareness Month.
Tom Jasper, president of mechanical contractor and fabricator Andy J. Egan Co., and Tom Rosenbach, managing partner of accounting firm Beene Garter LLP, have challenged each other to see who can collect the most nonperishable food and toiletries for Feeding America West Michigan Food Bank (FAWM). The company that collects the least amount of food will donate $500 to the food bank.
Donations are being collected throughout National Hunger Awareness Month this June and can be dropped off at Andy J. Egan Co.'s headquarters at 2001 Waldorf N.W. or Beene Garter's new offices at 56 Grandville Ave.
On June 30, each company will bring their donations to FAWM to weigh the donations and declare a winner. FAWM distributes donations to over 1,300 food pantries, homeless shelters, soup kitchens, domestic violence shelters, rescue missions, and other charity agencies across 40 Michigan counties.
